Filmed with two separate crews at different times of the year, Miz Mandy will publicly premiere both videos in Belleville on Thursday November 1st, 2012 at d.s. vespers & The EDGE. ‘Rising Sun’ will be available for online viewing immediately following, whereas ‘The Cat’s Pajamas’ will not be made available until December of 2012.

Belleville, IL (PRWEB) October 10, 2012 — Born and raised in Belleville, Illinois, Miz Mandy, moved to San Diego, California as a teenager. Now a singer, lyricist, songwriter, and executive producer, she has performed live shows in over 18 countries, releasing several singles and Eps, dance remix packs, and three original pop albums, ‘In The Mix’ (2007), ‘Today’s the Day’ (2009) and ‘MouseTrap’ (2011). http://www.MizMandy.com/

Pursuing her original music career since 2004, she has a variety of successes under her belt. Her first single, ‘In the Mix,’ (DJ Scotty K) was #37 with a bullet on the Billboard Dance Club Play Charts, and remained in the top 50 for 8 weeks. Subsequently, her Peak Hour Music ‘In The Mix’ Remixes entered at #92 on the Beatport Electro Chart, #80 on the Beatport Trance Chart and Top 10 chart status at DJDownload.com on opening weekend. In the fall of 2008, Miz Mandy released the first single off of her second album. ‘Sweet Fury of Love (Friscia & Lamboy Back 2 Soul Mix)’ also entered the Top 50 Billboard Dance Club Play Charts.

Her third album ‘MouseTrap’ released in November of 2011, departed from her historical Pop/Dance background to embark on a retro, moody, sultry, and orchestrated sound. Produced by Los Angeles songwriter and composer, Ryan Franks, Miz Mandy claims that the new musical direction will challenge her fans “musically and lyrically. It’s very different from my past albums, but I think people will love it.” Calling the new sound “Cinematic Pop/Rock”, she has just completed music videos for two singles, ‘Rising Sun’ and ‘The Cat’s Pajamas’.

“‘Rising Sun’ is one of the more upbeat and carefree songs on the album,” said writer and music video director, Amelia Yokel. “It’s as though Mandy is speaking to the world and saying, ‘We can do this together, don’t give up.’” The video features Miz Mandy, as ringleader, leading a parade of characters through the mountains, neighborhoods and city. Scenes consist of spreading the word via light signals, paper airplane invitations, and posted fliers. Referring to Mandy’s personal costume collection, Amelia laughs. “It might not be obvious to the innocent observer but Mandy is one of those women who is a unique combination of class and whimsy.” http://www.YokelPower.com

The majority of footage was filmed over two straight days in January of 2012 at four different locations in greater Los Angeles. Director of Photography Justin Duval and steadicam operator Noah Dille built custom equipment to accomplish the desired shots. Justin said, ” We were fighting the style of the DSLR revolution,
which tends to lend to a jerkier, hand-held look. By integrating the elaborate steadicam rig we were able to preserve a cinematic quality that I could be comfortable with.” http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0245050/

The video was edited and color corrected in the Final Cut 7.0 suite and took several months to complete. Amelia concludes, “Mandy has a strong understanding of the creative process and high standards for the final product which I really respect. Not only is she extremely talented and beautiful but also she possesses that ‘X Factor’ that so many other musicians lack… Drive.”

In contrast to the quirky and upbeat nature of ‘Rising Sun’, Miz Mandy’s other video ‘The Cat’s Pajamas’ is sleek and moody. Illinois native and Director of her first music video, Frank Rice, who has directed music videos for JMD Records/Universal Music Group, spearheaded the shoot. Rice says, “[The Cat’s Pajamas] has a very catchy chorus and I liked the play on the words. Mandy uses a lot of metaphors to convey her feelings toward someone. I like that…” http://www.frankjricejr.com

Co-Director Nicholas Lam, who has directed for BMW, E! Entertainment, CBS, 20th Century Fox, BET and Bravo Networks, described the song as, “sultry and fun, with just the right amount of edge to give it a Bond-like sheen without coming across as campy or contrived.” The song is about a female secret agent hired to kill a handsome male target. She is caught between doing what she should do and what she wants to do. http://www.nicholaslam.com/

The directors chose to go with long-time collaborator and veteran cinematographer Nicolas Martin, who has shot videos for such big names as Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Rihanna. No expense was spared in the making of the video, utilizing dual RED Epic cameras, a 26ft crane, a 3-ton lighting package and a state-of-the-art steadicam.

“I planned the shoot during my family’s summer vacation to California so that they could be in the video,” said Miz Mandy. “All in all, there were eleven Belleville natives in the video.” The video was shot in one full day in July at a private location, with the majority of the shots consisting of the morning outdoor pool scene and the evening indoor casino scene. Mandy says. “It was great to have family and hometown friends there with me.”

In September of 2012, both ‘Rising Sun’ and ‘The Cat’s Pajamas’ were well received at a cast and crew screening in Hollywood, CA. Both videos will be premiered on Saturday October 27th in San Diego County, at a Red Carpet event at Flavor Del Mar.

Miz Mandy will return to her hometown of Belleville, Illinois to hold a premiere for family and friends on Thursday November 1st from 7:00pm – 10:00pm at d.s. vespers & The EDGE 618.
