The Music

MUSIC THAT’S MEANT TO BE SEEN:

Miz Mandy is a successful live performer. She has showcased in over 16 countries from NATO shows near Brussels, Belgium to Fourth of July celebrations for the US Ambassador in Maputo, Mozambique. “Playing for 65,000 people in China was the best,” she said.

Recently, she performed at some of southern California’s best venues including the Belly-Up, Anthology, 4th and B, and Café Sevilla. She’s also done TV performances on Fox, KUSI and LATV’s En Concierto. “My act can expand or collapse depending on the venue and the show,” Miz Mandy said. “My favorite is when I perform with my eight-piece band and my entourage of vocalists and dancers.”

Miz Mandy has also performed for private events such as the Taylor Made/Adidas Golf US Open Party (with Josh Kelley, Nuttin But Stringz, and televised by The Golf Channel), Toyota, and San Diego Magazine's 'Best of' Event with special guests Bushwalla.

She supports many causes including San Diego Center for Community Solutions through Jeans for Justice, Invisible Children, Crime Victim's Fund, and Susan G. Komen For The Cure, among others.

Her debut music video for 'Let Love Be Free' was recently filmed in San Diego with a production crew consisting of those who have worked for MTV, BET, VH1, Mariah Carey, T.I., and Playstation. In February, Miz Mandy promoted the release with a live performance on Fox 5 Morning News. The official red carpet music video premier was held at Universal, Hillcrest in February 2009.

IN THE STUDIO:

Miz Mandy sheds new light on the phrase "triple threat". She is an accomplished singer, dancer, and songwriter. Patrick Pickslay, of Rhythm Coalition Studios in Cardiff, California, “In The Mix” album producer and co-writer, said, “Miz Mandy is very involved with the process of recording,” Together, Pickslay and Miz Mandy create an international sound using underlying Latin percussion, overlying Spanish guitars, and European dance sounds. "We like to integrate different languages, sounds and cultures - some French, some Italian, Arabic, African and Spanish." she says. "We're creating a unique sound by borrowing elements from all types of music."

"As Mandy's collaborator/producer, I'm intimately involved in many of the aspects of the creative process. I really appreciate Mandy's dedication to the music," States Pat. "She always inspires me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things in the studio. She's in essence, evolved into a co-producer with great production instincts."

Miz Mandy's lyrics reflect a wide range of social issues including racial equality and the social pressures that young people face. The songs inspire all to take action, and the music encourages women to rely on themselves and live their dreams. She also makes time to sing about love, passion, and seduction.

The second original album, Today's The Day, also mainly co-written with Patricio is "a fun whirlwind of the extremes. On one hand, there is love, lust and passion and on the other self-loathing. There are funny songs, spiritually awakening songs, and flirtatious party songs." She says.

IN THE MIX

Released in January, Miz Mandy's second album, "In The Mix," further proves her distinction as a performing artist, producer, studio engineer, and prolific songwriter. Her music strikes an international chord with its underlying Latin beats, overlying Spanish guitars, and European dance sounds. The focus of the album, she said, was "to mix up the different cultures and the different sounds."

Check out the reviews:

The latest release by Miz Mandy, In the Mix, combines pop, dance, Latin, and rock in just the right combination to make you want to get up and shake it. She has a beautiful, soulful, crystal-clear voice that lends itself well to her music. The twelve-song album contains two mixes of her title track, "In the Mix," as well as two other songs, "Yours" and "Shake Shake Shake" featuring guest vocals by Asis Guilford. "In the Mix" and "Shake Shake Shake" are impressively remixed by DJ Scotty K (Christina Aguilera), and the reprise of "Yours" is a gorgeous rendition with acoustic guitar and achingly, longing vocals. "No Borders" is an infectious, Madonna-influenced pop/dance track, and the heartfelt "Confessions" features rapper, Mally. Miz Mandy even rocks it out on the rock/pop-laced, "Drive." Definitely worth a listen! -- looseylucy.com

If it's the weekend and it's girls night-out to cruise then Miz Mandy made a soundtrack of good music for you. Not to say a male audience is not or won't be there. "In the Mix" is one of those CD's that takes pop music and praises it. You can hate pop music, but you can't say she does not have soul or a singing ability. Both versions of "In The Mix" (Extended Spanish Version & Scotty K Radio Mix) are amazing tracks that show off talent of music, lyrics, as well Miz Mandy's vocals. One track titled "Diamond in the Rough" really shows of Mandy's talent with her vocal capability. In the likes of artists such as Justin Timberlake, Shakira and Pink, that have fans as young as 6 up to senior citizens, Miz Mandy is also one of those artists that can have a hugh audience with no age limits. It's only a matter of time before Miz Mandy becomes a household name. -- nuevorevolution.com
